AREAS OF PRACTICE

John Griffiths was made a Silk in 2001 after seven years at the Bar.  He practices in both Federal and State jurisdictions at both appellate and first instance levels.  He specialises in public law and regulatory matters and is regarded as a leading advocate in administrative law proceedings in both courts and tribunals.  He has written extensively on administrative law and Constitutional law issues in a wide range of areas, including broadcasting and telecommunications.

Prior to joining the Bar in 1994 he was a partner of Blake Dawson Waldron for seven years.  Prior to that, he was the Director of the Federal Administrative Review Council, which provides independent advice on administrative law matters to the Federal Attorney-General.  Prior to that he lectured in law for several years at Cambridge University, England, where he was a Fellow and Director of Studies in Law at Emmanuel College.
